Micaela C. Owens is a partner at Sanchez Maselli Trial Attorneys whose practice emphasizes complex civil litigation. Micaela earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science and sports administration from the University of Miami, where she was a four-year student-athlete and three-year team captain of the Sunsations Dance Team, and her Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University School of Law, where she served as Lead Articles Editor of the Washington and Lee Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice, Chair of Spring Competitions on the Moot Court Executive Board, a Kirgis Fellow mentor to first-year and transfer students, and a student attorney in the Immigrant Rights Clinic.
After law school, Micaela served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Mark P. Ciarrocca, Presiding Judge of the Civil Part, Law Division, in the Superior Court of New Jersey (Union Vicinage). She is admitted in New Jersey and before the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, has been selected for inclusion in New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Stars every year from 2023 through 2026, and is a member of the New Jersey State, Bergen County, and Union County bar associations.

Won dismissal at the pleading stage of claims brought by a limited liability company and its vice president against a lawyer and his law firm — including tortious interference, conspiracy, New Jersey Bias Act, NJRICO, and emotional-distress counts.
Obtained Rule 4:6-2(e) dismissals in two separate actions by former employees against their former employers — one alleging gender discrimination under the NJLAD and whistleblower retaliation under CEPA, the other alleging failure-to-accommodate, interactive-process, aiding-and-abetting, and retaliatory-termination claims.
Won summary judgment under Rule 4:46 dismissing with prejudice a retaliation claim brought by a former employee concerning underlying allegations of race discrimination.
Successfully opposed a motion for leave to file a late notice of claim against a public entity, demonstrating that a claimant alleging injuries on public property failed to show the “extraordinary circumstances” the Tort Claims Act requires.
Obtained dismissal with prejudice under Rule 4:23-5(a)(2) for the plaintiff’s continued non-compliance with discovery obligations in a personal-injury action against a business.
